Imphal, Sep. 30 (EMN): Manipur ranked second in the NITI Health index 2020 in the entire Northeastern region and ranked third in the Himalayan region.
Conveying this by sharing photographs of meeting with members of NITI Aayog through a facebook post on Wednesday night, the state chief minister Biren Singh wrote, “In the NITI Health Index 2020, Manipur ranked 2nd in North Eastern Region and 3rd in the entire Himalayan Region.”
“I am happy that our initiatives like CMHT and PM Narendra Modi Ji’s flagship scheme Ayushman Bharat have catapulted healthcare coverage to a great extent in the state, thereby putting us in this position,” he added.
CMHT (Chief Minister Hakshelgi Tengbang), a state’s popular health assistance scheme was formally launched on the statehood day of the state on Jan. 21, 2018. Till August this year, around 4.19 lakh beneficiaries had been enrolled under the scheme which had won the award for the country’s best implemented public health programme in 2018, according to reports.
Under CMHT, the eligible households are given a health card to avail cashless treatment as it provides medical cover up to INR 2 lakh per family per year for seven critical diseases and up to INR 50,000 for primary and secondary ailments.
