ZLSU urges Jio, Airtel to address network issues in Peren
DIMAPUR — The Zeliang Students’ Union (ZLSU) Nagaland, citing residents of Peren district struggling with poor network coverage, has urged Jio and Airtel to immediately address the network issues by increasing tower density, improving infrastructure to provide reliable and consistent connectivity, and conducting regular maintenance and upgrades to ensure optimal service.
In a press communiqué, the union stated that despite numerous complaints, the issue persists, severely impacting daily life, business, and emergency services.
“The district’s rugged terrain and limited infrastructure are no longer an excuse for the subpar service,” it said, adding that the lack of reliable connectivity has resulted in frequent call drops and disconnections, causing inconvenience and lost productivity.
It further noted that slow data speeds are making internet access unreliable and hindering online education, healthcare, and banking services. Additionally, the union cited that the inability to send or receive messages is affecting communication and business operations, while limited network coverage in rural areas is exacerbating the digital divide.

The poor network has far-reaching consequences, including impacted local businesses that affect livelihoods and economic growth, compromised emergency services that put lives at risk, and difficulty in accessing critical services such as online education and healthcare, the union maintained.
ZLSU also requested the authorities to intervene and ensure that the telecom operators take necessary steps to resolve the issue at the earliest.
“The residents of Peren district deserve better network services. We demand reliable connectivity to participate in the digital economy and access essential services,” it concluded.
