Bomb recovered in Dimapur
Dimapur police on Sunday morning recovered a grenade below the Over Bridge, near the railway station parking lot. A team from the bomb disposal squad arrived and rendered the explosive device safe. The hand grenade, according to police, was without any pin. Police suspects it to be handiwork of those elements seeking to spread fear and panic in the town.
Investigation team set up to probe Karbi Anglong rape case
Deputy Commissioner of Karbi Anglong, Mukul Gogoi today informed that a three-pronged investigation team has been constituted to probe the rape incidents of three women in two adjacent villages under eastern Karbi Anglong alledgedly by soldiers of Indian army engaged in counter insurgency operation on Monday last. In a hurriedly called press conference at Diphu Circuit House, Deputy Commissioner, Mukul Gogoi and Superintendent of Police, Muktdha Joti Deva Mahanta gave the niceties of the whole incident taking place since April 6. Tomorrow the probe committee of Indian Army headed by Colonel Ganesh will discuss the whole matter with representative of several agitating women organization, after its return from the place of incident.
Nagaland truck kills boy in Jharkhand
A four-year-old boy was crushed to death in his sleep while his mother managed to escape along with an infant sister after a heavy vehicle rammed into their home in Danawali today, police said. The victim Jawani Kui along with her son Chari Champia and one-year-old daughter Jasmati were in their deep sleep inside their home when a ten-wheeler truck suddenly rammed into the home, police said. Champia, who was sleeping on an adjacent cot, was killed on the spot while Jawani along with her infant daughter managed to escape. Police said the truck with registration of Nagaland was on its way to Badajamda from Jamshedpur to load iron-ore when the driver lost control over it, causing the incident. The truck has been confiscated but the driver managed to escape.
