Delivering the welcome speech, DMC administrator Albert Ezung said that everyone love to live in a healthy, clean, hygienic and friendly environment. He, however, stated that people differed in their perception to achieve that common goal. Ezung pointed out that there are some people who leave everything in the hands of government departments and other agencies to clean, while there are people who believed in collective responsibility to achieve something good for society.

He added that DMC, despite its limitations and constraints, is trying its best to deliver goods to the people. He has appreciated the support extended by various organisations especially the colony authorities in their endeavours. He further stated that the cleanest colony competition was initiated to promote cleanliness and social responsibility.

Also on the occasion, the special guest and SDO (Civil), Zubenthung Ngullie, stated that the cleanest colony competition initiative has witnessed a positive change and improvement in Dimapur.

Ngullie has attributed success to the active participation of every citizen and further called upon the gathering to co-operate even in the days to come.
