Zeliang urges to preserve culture and tradition in written form
DIMAPUR — The deputy chief minister and in-charge of National Highway and Planning and Transformation, TR Zeliang, has called upon researchers and intellectuals to preserve cultures and traditions in written forms so as to pass on the younger generations.
Zeliang stated this during the Chaga Gadi-cum-Mini Hornbill Festival of the Zeliang community in Nzau village on Thursday. He stated that cultures and traditions should be preserve in written form so as to pass on to younger generation and protect from being lost forever.
Chaga Gadi is a festival of purification and dedication for communal harmony and prosperity celebrated by Liangmai community after the harvest.
Stating that Zeliangrong people have unique cultures and profound history, he urged upon the Zeliangrong community to strive for unity leaving aside geographical boundaries.
“Unless people unite, it will be difficult to promote cultures and foster prosperity,” Zeliang said.
The minister of Higher Education and Tourism, Temjen Imna Along, also attended the festival as special guest.
