DIMAPUR — The Ze Students’ Union, Dimapur unit, celebrated its silver jubilee on Saturday on the theme ‘Crafting the architects of tomorrow’ at Lifespring Corner Retreat Centre, Dimapur.

Addressing the gathering as the special guest, former general secretary of Naga Hoho, K Elu Ndang, highlighted that the jubilee was a unique time for both celebration and reflection, acknowledging past struggles and joys, according to a press release.

Ndang emphasised the importance of education combined with skill development in the present generation for any progress. He urged students to set specific, realistic goals and encouraged them not to let their empowerment lead to self-centeredness.

Ndang further reflected on the division of the Zeliangrong people across three states — Assam, Manipur, and Nagaland — by colonial rule, stating this separation has held back progress for the community. He called upon students to become the architects who bridge gaps in the community and encouraged them to understand the trends shaping the future of the Zeliangrong people.

Guest of honour and assistant professor at Government College Peren, Ch. Andrew Kangba, recalled the historical achievements of the Zeliangrong people, remarking on how the people have flourished across various regions.

Kangba also commented on the current societal tendencies, encouraging the students to focus on positive growth. He advised the gathering to embrace the dignity of labour and explore fields beyond traditional civil service.

Kangba stated that education is crucial for a nation’s growth and called on the students to make meaningful contributions to society.
