Dimapur, Jan. 26 (EMN): Yimkhiung Tribal Council (YTC) organised a grand civic reception in honour of MLA S Keoshu Yimkhiung, Deputy Commissioner of Shamator Thsuvisie Phoji, and Shamator Superintendent of Police Amit Kumar on January 25 at Shamator town public ground.
The programme was organised to show happiness for the newly upgraded Shamator district and to welcome the newly posted deputy commissioner and superintendent of police, informed an update from YTC.
In his welcome address, YTC president Throngso Yimkhiung gave credit to the Yimkhiung pioneers both living and the deceased for attaining Shamator district. He also called upon the inhabitants of Shamator district to remain united and maintain a peaceful atmosphere to take the newly upgraded Shamator district to newer heights.
Amit Kumar thanked the gathering for coming out in large numbers to welcome them despite the inclement weather and braving the chilly winter cold. Kumar informed that he would be available either at his residence or office on any matter and sought the public cooperation.
Also speaking on the occasion, Thsuvisie Phoji promised to deliver developmental activities whatever is possible up to his capacity.
Meanwhile, Keoshu Yim thanked the UDA government under the leadership of Neiphiu Rio for upgrading Shamator to a full-fledged district. He also called upon the public to remain united in one vision, one thought and one belief on their journey to develop a new home called Shamator district.
The reception programme was chaired by YTC general secretary Tsuyihba and the invocation and benediction were pronounced by Rev. Fr. T Latsutho John Poji, principal of St. Xavier School, Shamator, and Rev. Thrunkiumong, literature secretary of YBBA Mission Center, Shamator, respectively.
