DIMAPUR — The Yikhum Baptist Church (YBC) quasquicentennial jubilee celebration got underway on Saturday evening at YBC under Wokha district.
A press note mentioned that the theme for the jubilee is ‘come Lord Jesus’ (Revelation 22:20).
Rev. John Ovung, former executive secretary of the Lotha Baptist Churches Association, unveiled and dedicated the jubilee monolith during the opening session, and Rev. Achumo Kithan, pastor of Tchuphyangza Baptist Ekhumkho, inaugurated the jubilee convention hall.
Ovung also shared God’s words from 1 John 18, Revelations 22:20, and Luke 1:33 about God’s faithfulness and blessing during the inaugural.
He exhorted the congregation to be holy and to put their faith in Him, and encouraged the congregation to be thankful, exalt, and glorify God as they celebrated the jubilee.
Z Renchamo Odyuo, Jt. director, directorate of Evaluation, delivered the jubilee greetings.
The opening programme featured a special presentation by the jubilee choir and women, as well as a jubilee dedicatory prayer by Rev. Ellis, pastor, UBC Doyang.
The welcome address was delivered by the pastor of YBC, Zanbemo Kithan.
The event also included a silent prayer for the departed souls of those who preached the Gospel in the village of Yikhum, as well as believers who were associated with YBC.
A drama about Nkhao Jungi, the first person to respond to God’s call and become a Christian, as well as his missionary works in the village, was also presented.
The celebration of the 125 years of Christianity will conclude on October 2.
