Workshop on routine immunisation held in Tuensang
DIMAPUR — A district-level workshop on strengthening routine immunisation and surveillance of vaccine-preventable diseases took place at the CMO conference hall in Tuensang on Wednesday.
According to a press release, the workshop was organised for district surveillance officers (DSOs), epidemiologists, medical officers (MOs), community health officers (CHOs), and vaccinators.
During the training, senior medical officer, World Health Organisation, Dr. Sheila Longkumer, spoke about surveillance of vaccine-preventable diseases, including measles and its differential diagnosis, complications of measles, congenital rubella syndrome (CRS), the measles and rubella (MR) specimen collection kit, and MR OB response and confirmation.
Longkumer also provided insights about acute flaccid paralysis (AFP), essential information needed during notification, investigation of AFP cases, surveillance of suspected diphtheria, pertussis, and neonatal tetanus, their management, reporting procedures, and vaccination status.
