DIMAPUR — With the sobriquet given to Wokha district as the ‘Land of Plenty,’ the advisor of Agriculture, Mhathung Yanthan, has proposed organising an Agri. expo in Wokha. In this regard, he entrusted the Agri. and allied departments to work on the proposal and to have coordination meeting at least once a month.
Yanthan stated this during the monthly meeting of the Wokha District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) on Thursday held under the chairmanship of the deputy commissioner (DC) of Wokha, Vineet Kumar.
While emphasising the advancement of agriculture sector, the advisor challenged the Agri. and allied departments to have cohesiveness, which according to him, is need of the hour, stated a DIPR report.
In the meeting, the deputy superintendent of jail, Dr. Oben Yanthan, flagged the need for attachment of a male pharmacist/ male nurse in addition to the visiting doctor at District Jail from the CMO/ District Hospital, Wokha. Dr. Oben stressed the health rights of the inmates and felt the need to take care of their well-being as most of them have a history of drug abuse problem.
Towards this, the advisor mentioned the request as genuine and advised the officials to prepare proposal to be forwarded to the higher authority.
The chief medical officer (CMO) of Wokha, Dr. Zuben Kikon, has assured to detail medical personnel along with the visiting doctor.
In order to be aware of one’s health status, the members discussed on mandatory screening of government employees (30 years and above) for non-communicable diseases, where all necessary blood test and free medicines would be taken care by the CMO office.
On the agenda for upgrade of Sungro EAC circle, the house observed that Sungro has the potential for upgrade to SDO (C) HQ. Accordingly, the house agreed to approve the proposal and forward to the concerned authority.
The house also deliberated on the registration of several societies and forwarded the proposal of Wokha District Sepaktakraw Association, Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Alumni Association, Chukitong, and Impact her Nagaland to the government for approval.
For smooth and effective traffic management, the SDPO of Wokha, Sangthing Khiam highlighted on the traffic management action plan for Wokha district through a power point presentation.
It stated that the advisor has expressed gratitude to the Police department for coming out with the traffic action plan. He felt the need for taking up the traffic congestion issue in a coordinated approach.
Meanwhile, the DC Wokha also welcomed the traffic action plan and suggested for execution in a phase wise manner. He also asked the HODs to regularly attend the DPDB meeting and requested them to ensure functioning of all the offices in the district.
In the meeting, the members were informed for filling up the forms for the ongoing registration of General Household (GHH) category through the Supply department.

The advisor also launched the annual magazine of the CMO, Wokha, during the meeting.
