Widespread rain expected over Nagaland, Northeast, says IMD
DIMAPUR — The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast fairly widespread to widespread light to moderate rainfall, accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning, over East and Northeast India for the next five days.
The forecast predicts isolated heavy rainfall over Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura from July 7 to the 11th. Nagaland, in particular, may experience isolated very heavy rainfall on July 8, it said.
On July 9, moderate rain is highly likely in most parts of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, and Meghalaya. Moderate rain is also expected in many areas of Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura.
The IMD has issued a weather warning for July 8, cautioning that isolated areas in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura are at high risk of experiencing thunderstorms and lightning.
Heavy to very heavy rainfall is also anticipated in isolated locations across Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, and Nagaland on the same day. Manipur can expect heavy rainfall at isolated places, it said.
