WCYO fetes NTWA team for winning silver in national championship
DIMAPUR — The Western Chakhesang Youth Organisation (WCYO) held a brief reception programme at Old NST station, Dimapur, on Tuesday in honour of the Nagaland Tug of War Association (NTWA) team for bringing laurels to the state after it was decorated with the silver medal.
Team Nagaland won silver in the 36th Senior Men and Mixed Tug of War National Championship and 18th Senior Federation National Tug of War Championship, held in Tawang, Arunachal Pradesh, from September 29 to October 1.
According to a press statement issued by Nagaland team manager and media coordinator, Kuzhovesa Soho, NTWA president Dr. Vekho Swuro stated that Nagaland was participating for the first time and earning the silver medal was a unique moment in the history of the Nagas.
Swuro expressed gratitude to all Nagas for their prayers and moral support, as well as the cash and kind contributors, and said that the remarkable achievement was made possible through collaborative efforts and that he looks forward to more such collaborations.
He added that with proper training and coaching camps provided to the pullers, Nagaland can win gold in the next national championship as well as feathers in the international arena.
