Training on NCD screening held in Wokha

DIMAPUR — A district level training on population based non communicable diseases (NCD) screening was held at the chief medical officer’s (CMO) conference hall, Wokha on Tuesday.

Dr. Alemwapang, state programme officer, NPCDCS, one of the resource persons for the training, gave a brief introduction on non communicable diseases programme,

He informed that death due to NCD in India is around 63 percent as per World Health Organisation report (2018), the CMO Wokha stated in an update.

Speaking on the disease burden and objectives of NPNCDS, Dr. Alemwapang elaborated on population based screening, a new initiative under NPCDCS, aimed at screening beneficiaries in the community who are 30 years or above for hypertension, diabetes, oral cancer, breast cancer and cervix cancer.

During the training session, community based assessment checklist format and registration in family folder and use of NCD App was explained to the participants.

Resource person Tongpang Matsung, state consultant NCD along with the state NCD team gave hands-on training on NCD portal entry to the participants.

The one-day training was attended by medical officers, community health officers, NCD nurses, GNM and ANM from various health centres in the district.

Earlier, Dr. Aseno Rhetso, DPO (NCD), welcomed the resource persons and the participants to the training. She mentioned that the training is being held under the aegis of National Programme for Prevention and Control of Diabetes, Cardiovascular Disease and Stroke (NPCDCS).
