Training on meat production underway in Jalukie
DIMAPUR — A four-day capacity-building training programme on meat production, organised by the office of the Chief Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services, Peren, got underway at Tamzaipa conference hall in Jalukie town on Tuesday.
In the technical session, resource person and veterinary assistant surgeon, Dr. Toshimongla Aier, spoke on ‘Poultry farming: important tenets.’ She also covered a range of topics such as types of chickens available in the locality, housing system and floor space management for poultry farming, how to breed and brood commercial chicks, feeding management, vaccination schedule and healthcare in birds, marketing strategies, etc.
During an interactive session, Dr. Suiyipeube Mpom, VAS Tening, clarified the doubts raised by the trainees.
The inaugural function was chaired by Dr. Suilube, farm manager at Jalukie, while introduction and keynote address was delivered by the chief veterinary officer of Peren, Dr. Namsui Thou.
Around 50 participants took part on the first day of the training programme.
