Tokhu Emong Open Badminton Championship commences in Wokha
DIMAPUR — The third edition of the Tokhu Emong Open Badminton Championship 2023, organised by the Wokha District Badminton Association on the theme ‘Smash for unity’, began on Tuesday at indoor stadium, GHSS Wokha.
Samuel Ezung, president of the Wokha District Football Association, was the special guest during the inaugural programme.
In his speech, Ezung encouraged all participants to demonstrate good sportsmanship and added that in order to become a good sportsperson, one must follow certain rules and regulations. He said that one must be obedient, dedicated, practice daily, and never lose hope (i.e., confidence).
Due to a lack of female participants in the districts, there will only be three events this year: senior men’s singles, senior men’s doubles, and veteran doubles.
The winners of these three events will receive a running trophy, cash prizes, and certificates sponsored by Myingthungo Ababe Ezung, OSD, Transport department, and Janthungo Kikon, chairman, Tsungiki Village Council.
