The Lotha Baptist Churches Association On Clean Election

Believing that  election of leaders for human community is God’s practice for maintaining  order and justice among God’s people we take this upcoming election in Nagaland as an event to allow justice and peace to prevail among God’s people, the Christian Nagas. It is irksome to analyse the contestants who is God- fearing and who is otherwise. Contesting in election does not make them the lesser loved children of God. The ball is in the court of the voters who should not sell their birthright votes to forfeit their responsibility to choose God fearing and people friendly leaders.

The public has now shifted their judgment not to the elected leaders but to those irresponsible voters who sell their vote to relinquish their right of electing the right leaders. Those who sell their votes to treasure mammon instead of good leaders themselves cry at the sight of the bad roads, the abandoned School buildings and primary medical centers. Misuse of Community development funds, relief to the aged, assistance to the orphans, caring for the  unschooled kids, the starving poor people – they all cry to their Creator Who wants clean and fair election of their leaders. They know the culprit is the one who sells his/her vote to allow some irresponsible leaders to hold the post.

Contestants please do not throw money or wine or any article to the voters to win your position. That is not the way God wants leaders to come up to lead. Your good intent to lead God’s people, your humility, your magnanimity and your fear of God who will bring every irresponsible act to His judgment throne will succeed even if you don’t win the election.

Voters likewise be warned of God’s wish for you to choose good rulers. Exercise a fair and clean manner of voting .If you do so, do not worry even if you lost the election, for you have won the heart of God. If you voted for the right person but lost the vote, God has in His store more lasting treasure for you and your posterity. Insist then, on clean and fair election and invoke God’s smile on your destiny.
