DIMAPUR — A 19-year-old youth, identified as Ekyothung Tsanglao, tragically drowned in a fishery pond at Seithekema village in Chümoukedima District around 2 pm on Sunday.
According to a reliable source, the victim had gone for a swim with four other friends in the afternoon. Unfortunately, he drowned after venturing into the deeper section of the pond.
Despite search efforts by a State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) team late into the evening, they were unable to recover the body and called off the operations due to fading light. They will resume the search operation on Monday.
