Dimapur, March 13 (EMN): A primary health centre (PHC) at Tamlu in Longleng district has been upgraded to a community health centre (CHC), which was inaugurated by the minister of Health and Family Welfare, S Pangnyu Phom, on March 12 in the presence of Dr. Neikiesalie Nicky Kire, MLA and advisor of Urban Development and Municipal Affairs, officials from the Health departments and public leaders.
Speaking at the inaugural function held at the marketing complex, Pangnyu encouraged everyone to come forward and join hands and work together for the betterment of the new upgraded health centre, saying the seed which has been planted today should be nurtured by the people of Tamlu in particular. He also appealed to all the government officers and civil societies to extend help and support to the doctors, nurses and staff of the newly upgraded health centre, an update from the office of the chief medical officer (CMO), Longleng, stated.

Pangnyu expressed confidence that the new upgraded CHC would benefit all the villages under Tamlu area. He also expressed gratitude to the doctors and nurses of Tamlu for working relentlessly and further appealed to them to continue extending their service for the community of Tamlu area.
In another development, Dr. Kire inaugurated Tamlu into a full-fledged town council. Speaking at the programme, he encouraged everyone to come forward with new innovative ideas and persevere towards achieving accolades such as cleanest town, most innovative urban town council and most sustainable town council.
He further appealed to all the citizens of Tamlu area to contribute their new creative ideas in order to help the government.
Brief reports were delivered by the joint director of Health and Family Welfare department and director of Urban Development and Municipal Affairs, while short speeches were delivered by former minister B Phongshak, NDPP general secretary Bangtick Phom, ADC Tamlu Chingak Konyak, presidents of Phom People’s Council and TYNA, and chairman of Tamlu village council.
After the programme, Dr. Kire flagged off the Tamlu Town Council sanitation truck (Tata mobile).
