DIMAPUR — A two-day outreach programme on Systematic Voter’s Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP), an initiative of CEO Nagaland and District Election Officer, Mokokchung, with Nagaland Sports Association, culminated at Fazl Ali College (FAC) in Mokokchung on November 2.
The SVEEP outreach programme is an initiative to promote voter’s registration and awareness among eligible young voters through an engaging and interactive approach, a DIPR report stated.
The programme featured an EPIC tournament with a variety of sports activities including tug-of-war, relay race, capture the flag and Futsal tournaments for both men and women. The games brought students together, fostering teamwork and enthusiasm while underscoring the importance of civic responsibility and active participation in the democratic process.
To further support the event’s goals, a voter registration booth was set up to allow students to easily register, update or verify their voter details by highlighting the importance of each individual’s role in strengthening democracy.
The event concluded with a prize distribution ceremony to celebrate participant’s dedication and sportsmanship and encouraging continued community involvement.
The successful collaboration between the CEO Nagaland, District Election Office Mokokchung and the Nagaland Sports Association demonstrated a shared commitment to building and informed and active electorate among the youth of Nagaland.
