DIMAPUR — S Supongmeren Jamir, from Nagaland took oath as member of the 18th Lok Sabha parliament at New Delhi on Tuesday.
On June 4, Congress candidate Jamir won the lone Nagaland seat by a margin of over 50,000 votes, defeating the ruling People’s Democratic Alliance’s consensus candidate, Dr. Chumben Murry from the Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party.
Jamir polled 4,01,951 votes, Murry 3,50,697 and independent candidate Hayithung Tungoe Lotha 6,232 votes in the state.
