Sumi Hoho, CKS felicitate legislators

DIMAPUR: Sumi Hoho felicitated the newly elected Sumi legislators in the recently concluded general election during a programme held on Friday at Zunheboto town hall.

The president of Sumi Hoho, Nikheto Zhimomi, in his welcome address, congratulated all the winning candidates and encouraged them to be united at all times. He also requested the legislators to establish a B.Ed Center and Industrial Training Institute (ITI) in Zunheboto, stated a DIPR report.

Speaking on the occasion, minister of Road and Bridges, G Kaito Aye, stressed the importance of electing candidates for consecutive terms and having confidence in the candidates. Stating that the present legislators are young and dynamic and have all practical experiences for bringing about all-around development, he urged the Sumi people to have patience.

He further advised the students to not only depend on political leaders for their future but focus on quality education and prepare themselves for competitive exams.

The minister of PHED and Cooperation, Jacob Zhimomi, urged the Sumi community to uphold the legacy of faithfulness and loyalty of their forefathers and to maintain the spirit of brotherhood in every walk of life. He requested the Sumi community to be responsible in all developmental activities by not creating any hindrances but supporting the government to complete the work on time.

The programme was chaired by the hoho general secretary, Dr. Vihuto Asumi, and concluded with a prayer of blessing upon the legislators by Rev. Kughato Chophi, executive secretary of SBAK Nito Mount.

In a related programme, Chang Khulei Setshang (CKS), apex body of the Chang community, felicitated elected members from its community namely Beshangmongba Chang, minister of PWD Housing and Mechanical Engineering; MLA Lima Onen and MLA and chairman of Tuensang DPDB, Imtichuba, during its 78th executive session held on Friday at CKS Hall in Tuensang.

The CKS president, Nusanglemba Chang, congratulated the three legislators and thanked them for abiding by the rules and regulations set up by CKS for the peaceful conduct of election. He added that the three elected members would continue to work for the uplift and development of the Chang community in the coming days.

Short speeches were delivered by Pongsu, president of CWS; Beshangmongba Chang, Lima Onen and Imtichuba.

The programme was attended by members of tribal bodies, Chang Gazetted Officers’ Association (CGOA), Chang Wedoshi Setshang (CWS), Changsao Thangjam Setshang (CST) and executive members of different villages in Tuensang.
