State Taxes officials directed to be vigilant against GST non-compliance
DIMAPUR — A review meeting of the officers under the Commissionerate of State Taxes and Mobile Squad was held in the office chamber of the Commissioner of State Taxes, Dimapur, on Saturday.
The meeting was chaired by Kudecho Khamo, Advisor for the Department of Civil Administration Works Division (CAWD) and Taxes, and attended by Sachin Jaiswal, commissioner of State Taxes, and his team of officials, according to a press release.
The discussions during the meeting placed special emphasis on enhancing the revenue of the state and ensuring compliance by taxpayers under the GST regime.
Jaiswal, presenting a report on the performance of the department, mentioned that a compliance survey is underway to include more eligible individuals under the ambit of GST registrations. He also urged all registered taxpayers to pay their taxes correctly and within the stipulated timelines to avoid penalties and departmental action.
The advisor advised the department officials to rededicate themselves to their duties and directed all officers to remain vigilant to safeguard and enhance the state government’s revenue.
The officials were directed to be more proactive and take action against non-compliant individuals involved in the supply of goods and services without proper documents and invoices. He also emphasised the need for the department to establish proper plans and targets for all officials.
Further, he dwelled on the importance of training and asked the department to conduct more training and awareness programmes across the state for the dissemination of knowledge and awareness about GST.
