Dimapur — St. Joseph’s College (Autonomous), Jakhama, has welcomed a total of 1472 new students during its 36th fresher’s day programme held at the college indoor stadium on Saturday with ThejaMeru, chairman of TaFMA, as guest speaker.
Delivering the welcome address, the college’s principal, Fr. Dr. George Keduolhou Angami, advised the students to lead a life of freedom with responsibilities. He also exhorted that one becomes strong after tasting trials and struggles.
An update from the college stated that Theja Meru has shared his thoughts chiefly on three things.
Firstly, he encouraged the students to dream big and drew life examples on how one should dream big to achieve big things in life.
Secondly, he advised them to work hard to success and lastly, he encouraged them to believe in themselves saying, “If one believes in oneself, the world will believe in him/her.”
Other highlights of the programme included introduction of the freshers by the class representatives, welcome song by inmates of SJC(A) men’s hostel, and speech on behalf of the seniors by VotsuluTunyi.
Songs including ‘Stumbling in’ was by Ecstasy Band and ‘I won’t give up’ by Samuel Subba and dance presentation by Phoenix.
