SPIC MACAY founder Dr. Kiran Seth visits NIT Nagaland, RCD

DIMAPUR — Dr. Kiran Seth, founder of the Society for the Promotion of Indian Classical Music and Culture Amongst Youth (SPIC MACAY), is on a visit to Dimapur as part of his mission to promote Indian cultural heritage among the youth.

SPIC MACAY is a voluntary youth movement that promotes classical music, dance, folk arts, yoga, meditation, crafts and other aspects of Indian culture. It has chapters in over 300 towns worldwide, according to an update.

Seth, as part of his mission, met with students at the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Nagaland. On Saturday, he visited the Rotary Club of Dimapur (RCD), where he appealed to Rotarians to encourage cultural activities among youth.

Seth stated that such activities can provide intangible benefits that enhance young people's resilience against depression and demotivation stemming from academic and social pressures.

He was felicitated by the president of Rotary Club, Subir Saha, and other members.

Seth is a professor emeritus at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi. He established SPIC MACAY in 1977 at IIT Delhi.
