KOHIMA — Sole Connect, a newly launched retail store, introduced the Indian brand Kobsook, which is known for collaboration with differently-abled youth.
Managed by two local families, the outlet was inaugurated by Johnny Ruangmei, joint chief executive officer of Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA) on Friday evening at B-4, West Road Mall in Jail Colony, Kohima.
During the opening ceremony, the store’s proprietors explained that they chose the name “Sole Connect” to symbolise friendship and brotherhood, emphasising the power of relationships to dream, walk, and live together.
The brand “Kobsook,” presented by Sole Connect derived from a Buddhist term meaning “a person with a happy heart and compassion,” showcased products like fashion canvas shoes and bags, which were crafted, produced and marketed by Indians.
The brand’s mission centres on artist-designed items and supporting individuals with disabilities.
The proprietors highlighted the brand’s commitment to inclusivity by involving differently-abled artists in the design process, emphasising the importance of equal treatment.
The proprietors expressed their desire to expand their business within and beyond the country. They informed about their vision which is to promote local artists, designs, culture and stories of Nagaland in the coming days.
The owners expressed their interest in offering franchise or distributorship opportunities throughout Northeastern states in the future.
It was apprised that the outlet currently features KobSook shoes and bags with various designs, all offered at affordable prices without compromising quality, style, comfort, or durability.
During the inauguration, Johnny Ruangmei emphasised the need to acknowledge blessings and also congratulated the families behind Sole Connect’s successful launch.
Ruangmei highlighted the potential of such endeavours to multiply happiness and serve as a livelihood not only for the proprietors but also for those involved in running the outlet.
He suggested introducing a 3D printing machine to enhance product outcomes and cater to customer needs.
Rethungo Kikon, pastor of Kohima Lotha Baptist Church, read the Scripture and invoked God’s blessings, while Neizienguü Zao and Mhasenro Shitio presented songs.
