Angami Women Organisation calls the act ‘unimagineable’

DIMAPUR — The Mokokchung Police, which arrested Moakaba Aier, 33, a ‘SS’ sergeant from NSCN (Khango) in connection with the sexual assault of a minor, has said that a criminal case has been registered at the Women Police Station, Mokokchung, under Section 65(2) BNS R/W 6 POCSO Act.

In a press statement, the police also revealed that the accused is a resident of Akumen (Lirmen), Mokokchung district.

It further said that on August 11, they received an FIR reporting that a three-year-and-four-month-old girl had been sexually abused on August 10 and the case is under investigation.

Meanwhile, the Angami Women Organisation (AWO) expressed shock at the news of Aier molesting the minor.

In a condemnation note, the AWO stated that it is unimaginable that someone who claims to be working for the Naga national cause could perpetrate such a heinous crime.

The AWO demanded that the law-enforcing agency award the most severe punishment to the culprit without delay.

It also expressed disgust at the silence of the Ceasefire Monitoring Cell and its apparent disregard for the NSCN (Khango) group, despite the group’s repeated blatant violations of the ceasefire rules.

“We urged the CFMC to prove its sincerity and purpose by taking action against the group in accordance with the provisions of the agreement signed for ceasefire,” it said, conveying its deepest sympathy and prayers for the child and her family.
