DIMAPUR — The first NECDC Senior Women Interstate Friendship T20 Tournament concluded with Nagaland and Sikkim declared joint champions after the final was abandoned due to persistent rain.

Despite the excitement leading up to the highly anticipated match at the Nongkhrah Cricket Ground in Pahamsning, Meghalaya, officials were forced to cancel the game, resulting in both teams sharing the title, according to an update.

It was stated that although the final match was affected by the adverse weather, the first NECDC Senior Women Interstate Friendship T20 Tournament was a success.

“Both Nagaland and Sikkim demonstrated their strength throughout the group and semi-final stages,” it mentioned.

The Meghalaya Cricket Association extended its heartfelt gratitude to all the teams, players, officials, and supporters for making the inaugural tournament a success.

The release noted that the growth of tournaments like this continues to elevate the Northeast’s presence on the national cricketing stage, and the future of cricket in the region looks even brighter.

This victory follows closely on the heels of Nagaland’s senior men’s team winning the second NECDC Senior Men’s Interstate Friendship Tournament.
