Sand supply from Manja-Assam to resume, say Karbi Anglong-Dimapur body
Dimapur, Nov. 28 (EMN): The Karbi Anglong and Dimapur Transporters’ Association (KADTA) will resume supply of sand from Manja-Assam from December 1, following a joint meeting with the Silveta Sand Mahaldar Welfare Association (SSMWA), and Bakalia Sand Mahaldar Welfare Society (BSMWS) on November 27.
An update from the association stated that the Sand Stockists and Suppliers’ Union Dimapur (SSSUD), Assam Sand Supply and Truck Owners’ Association (ASSTOA) and Chumoukedima Sand Stockists and Suppliers’ Union (CSSSU) had called for a ban on sand supply from November 10 “without any reason” and had not received any positive response till date.
It further urged the district administration and law implementing agency to look into the matter and give “free passage” to the sand-laden trucks within Dimapur and Chumoukedima districts.
KADTA also warned the SSSUD, ASSTOA and CSSSU not to ‘harass’ the sand-laden trucks, which were not under their unions, adding that the Nagaland-based sand unions would be held responsible for any untoward incident towards the drivers of the trucks.
