Rongbong Terang conferred with Honoris Causa

DIPHU — Noted writer and former president of Asom Sahitya Sabha (ASS), Padmashree Rongbong Terang, was conferred with an Honoris Causa (Ph.D.) on Monday in a ceremony held at the CV Raman Conference Hall of Assam University Diphu Campus (AUDC).

The conferring of the honour on Terang was initially scheduled to take place at the 21st convocation of Assam University in Silchar on September 13-14. However, due to his health condition, he was unable to attend.

Subsequently, the chancellor and vice chancellor of the Assam University Silchar campus travelled to AUDC to confer the degree.

Upon receiving the Honoris Causa, Terang expressed his gratitude, stating that it was a great privilege to be honoured by Assam University. He accepted the degree on behalf of the people of Karbi Anglong and dedicated it to them, noting that it was a source of pride for the region and would inspire youngsters to pursue their goals.

The programme was attended by Pro-Vice Chancellor of AUDC, Prof. Sivasish Biswas; professors of AUDC; president of the Diphu Press Club, Borsing Rongphar; president of the District Press Club of Karbi Anglong, Diganta Teron; and several other dignitaries.
