Residents of Dimapur locality repair road on their own
Dimapur, Dec. 21 (EMN): The Zeliangrong village council is said to have collected nearly INR 15 lakh from ‘local residents and traders’ and embarked on a project to repair roads inside the locality.
The council issued a press release on Monday stating that their ‘humble request’ to the authorities concerned ‘to do something about the bad roads has never been heard or considered’.
“Despite being located in the heart of Dimapur, the roads in the locality have been in a shoddy condition for decades. Even autorickshaws, which are the only mode of public transportation available for most residents, refuse to enter the colony citing bad roads.
“The road was first blacktopped around 1994-95 after which it received ‘lipstick’ carpeting under the Dimapur Municipal Council’s initiative which was washed away within a few months,” it stated.
