Power department in Mon notifies telecom service providers
DIMAPUR — The executive engineer of Power department, Mon electrical division, K Tingtenmoie Konyak, has directed the telecom service providers to immediately remove cables from electrical poles and warned that the defaulting telecom company would be held responsible for any injuries or technical accidents that might occur due to bending or damage of poles.
The executive engineer has issued this notification after noticing illegal usage of poles for hanging of OFC cable without seeking permission for usage of electric poles from the department in some colonies of Mon town. He added that handling of electricity related materials is hazardous without proper technical knowledge and skill.
The executive engineer further reminded that illegal connection, hooking, looping of electric supply lines, tampering with meter or usage of electric poles without permission is a punishable offence under Section 135 of the Indian Electricity Act, 2003.
