Police personnel screened for non-communicable diseases

Medical team and police personnel of 8th NAP B Company after an awareness-cum-health camp in Zunheboto on Thursday.

DIMAPUR — National Progamme on Non Communicable Disease (NPNCD) and National Oral Health Programme (NOHP), Zunheboto, conducted an awareness-cum-health camp at 8th NAP B Company in Zunheboto district on Thursday.

An update from the office of the chief medical officer (CMO), Zunheboto, stated that more than 42 police personnel were screened and treated by the medical team during the health camp. It added that a total of 30 police personnel were screened for oral cancer by using smokerlyser to check the level of carbon monoxide level in the lungs.

Besides, the medical team gave health talks on hypertension, diabetes mellitus, kidney health, my health my right, oral care, oral cancer etc. It stated that medicines and toothbrushes were provided to the police personnel without any charge.

The medical team was led by of Dr. N Mhonchan Kithan, NCD) district programme officer (NCD); Dr. Esther Ngullie, senior dental surgeon at District Hospital, Zunheboto; and CMO staff.

Meanwhile, Pyobemo Lotha, deputy commandant of 8th NAP B Company, thanked the medical team for organising the health camp.
