Phek Government College’s annual sports meet begins
DIMAPUR — The 41st annual sports meet of Phek Government College (PGC) commenced on Wednesday on the theme “Beyond the finish line,” with Dr. Pritpal Kaur Batra, superintendent of police, Phek, as the inaugural guest.
According to a press release, Kaur, in her address to the students, emphasised that sports represent a way of life and a lifestyle and underscored the significance of discipline in both sportsmanship and life in general.
She reminded students that life is very similar to sports and that it is important to always compete with oneself, even in the journey of life. She emphasised the importance of maintaining control of one’s mind and not allowing a single defeat or failure to derail us.
Albert Pou, the secretary of games and sports at PGC, led the oath-taking ceremony.
The sports meet kicked off on March 20 with wrestling matches, a volleyball exhibition match featuring female teachers against female students, and a football exhibition match pitting male faculty against male student executives.
The four-day event, from March 20 to the 23rd, will include games such as wrestling, bamboo stick walking, various track events, football, volleyball, and more.
