DIMAPUR —The deputy commissioner and chairman of Phek district disaster management authority (DDMA), John Tsulise Sangtam, has asked the officials of line departments to take the exact assessment against any kind of damage of properties for assistance. He also reminded them to do away with false or exaggeration of quantities or amount while making assessment for property damaged or loss due to disaster for assistance.
The DC stated this during the meeting of DDMA on the monsoon preparedness held at his office chamber on Friday. He enquired on the status of machineries and other resources from PWD, Roads and Bridges and National Highways and asked the concerned officers to keep the machineries in good condition.
He also asked the Food and Civil Supplies department to ensure availability of essential commodities, stated a DIPR report.
An official from the CMO’s office informed that there are sufficient medicines available in the district.
The members have discussed on the need for availability of medical supply for any animal related to epidemic, for which the chairman asked the officials of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services in the district to take up the matter with the department.
The members further discussed about the responsibility and duties of Home Guards and Civil Defense and SDRF for emergency operation and response preparedness.
The DDMA nodal officer, Phek, David Thupir, highlighted about the India Disaster Resource Network (IDRN) in the meeting.
