Organisations condemn physical, mental abuse of three minors
Dimapur, Nov. 5 (EMN): Miachieo clan, Lhisemia Khel, Kohima village, has condemned the physical abuse of three minors by one Ronika Miachieo and demanded the police to deliver justice as per law.
In a press statement on Saturday, the clan said that Ronika Miachieo is the daughter of Rangka Lukramn and Kelhousetuoü, and the latter is the daughter of Bhim and Sasienuo Miachieo.
Stating that her father and grandfather do not belong to the clan or Kohima village, ‘the Miachieo clan has not adopted Miss Ronika or her parents, legally or in traditional way. Therefore as per the customs and tradition of a patriarchal society, neither Ronika nor her parents can claim to be of Miachieo clan or use the surname’, it read.
It is added that Ronika Miachieo and her parent’s names were not in the 2021 Lhisemia Council census.
Meanwhile, Kuda Kewhimiapfü Mechü Krotho, Dimapur Naga Students’ Union, and Dimapur Eastern Nagaland Students’ Union (DENSU), Namgalong Colony Council have also condemned the incident calling it a “cruel” and “inhumane” act.
“It is so disheartening to know that she has been doing such inhuman acts upon these children over the years with the promise to their parents of educating and raising them,” it read.
DNSU also appealed to the parents to be mindful of entrusting their children to anyone without proper evidence and awareness.
Meanwhile, in an emergency meeting on Saturday, Namgalong Colony Council terminated Ronika Machieo from the post of secretary, Namgalong Women organisation, ex-communicated her the colony and barred her from involoving in an activity of the colony till the matter is resolved by law.
The organisations also urged the law enforcement authority to deliver justice to the victims and families at the earliest.
