DIMAPUR — Commemorating ‘International Yoga Day 2024,’ the Sports Section of Nagaland University (NU) on Thursday organised a one-day national on the theme “Women empowerment through yoga practices.”
An update from NU stated that the event began with welcome and introductory remarks from Dr. Harish Kumar Tiwari, deputy director of sports and organising secretary of the webinar.
Prof. Mithilesh Kumar Sinha, who chaired the seminar, shared his personal experiences with yoga practices, emphasising their transformative power in empowering women and enhancing their physical and mental well-being.
The webinar featured two special guests from Manipur Sports University namely Dr. Shyam Sunder Rath, dean of student welfare at Manipur Sports University, and Dr. Keren Harish Tiwari, assistant professor of Sports Physiology and Nutrition at Manipur Sports University.
It stated that both speakers made insightful powerpoint presentations and spoke on the webinar’s theme. They provided valuable tips for maintaining a healthy lifestyle through yoga practices, highlighting yoga’s role in promoting physical health, mental clarity and overall empowerment for women.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Ashish Kumar, Hindi officer at Nagaland University, who expressed gratitude to all participants including faculty members, officers, staff members, scholars and students for their positive and active involvement in the webinar.
It mentioned that Nagaland University’s initiative to organise the event underscored the importance of yoga in fostering women’s empowerment and contributes to the broader celebration of International Yoga Day.
