DIMAPUR — In the wake of recent incidents involving cybercrime and scam call centres in Punjab, the Naga Students’ Union Punjab (NSUP) has issued a ‘critical advisory’ and a formal warning to the Naga youths and students of the region.

In a press note, the NSUP emphasised the paramount importance of exercising caution and vigilance in all online endeavours and related work to shield oneself from the perils of cybercrime.

The NSUP maintained that, in the event of any future occurrences linked to cybercrime, it will not bear the responsibility of entertaining such cases. It urged individuals to take proactive measures and remain cognizant of the hazards associated with involvement in scam call centres and similar services.

The union directed a plea to the Nagas in Punjab presently employed in call centres and related workplaces to heed the warning signs and steer clear of illicit activities.

The NSUP also advised all Nagas residing in Punjab to promptly enlist with the union so that it stands ready to extend legal aid and a myriad of other forms of assistance in times of dire need.

“It is imperative to acknowledge that unregistered Naga individuals may not receive the same level of support from the union,” it said, adding that NSUP remains steadfast in its commitment to fostering a secure and harmonious environment for all.

The union implored the cooperation of all in thwarting cybercrime and associated fraudulent practices.
