NST introduces new bus service between Wokha and New Riphyim

Dimapur, Nov. 20 (EMN): The deputy commissioner of Wokha, Orenthung Lotha, flagged off a new NST bus service from Wokha to New Riphyim on November 20 at Nagaland State Transport (NST) office’s premises.

Speaking at the flagging off programme, the deputy commissioner was optimistic that with the introduction of a new bus service the transportation problem faced by the area people would be reduced to a great extent not only for the residents of New Riphyim but the entire range people which consisted of around six villages, a DIPR report stated on Friday.

The DC also stated that the government is providing social service to the people through this new public transport system to ease the problems and urged the area people to use the service with a sense of responsibility for long term benefit.

Lotha also thanked the initiative of the deputy chief minister and minister for Home and R&B, Yanthungo Patton and other officials involved in providing the much needed service for the benefit of the people. The DC also thanked the department of NST for helping and providing service during the pandemic in transporting stranded passengers.

The NST divisional manager, Visio Yepthomi, who also spoke during the programme, said the district has achieved another development by adding one more new bus service. He urged the area public to take proper care of the vehicle and use it judiciously also appealed to look in to the welfare of the drivers and conductors manning the vehicle. He also sought co-operation to the department so that the department could also give back the service required by the people.

Yepthomi also informed that 50% of the sitting capacity would only be allotted/ used keeping in view of the pandemic crisis. While the fare rate has been fixed at INR 60, he informed that the same would be reduced to INR 40 during normal times. The bus would ply for two trips per day on daily basis.

The village authorities on behalf of the citizens of New Riphyim and Old Riphyim have especially thanked the deputy chief minister Y Patton, transport minister Paiwang Konyak and the NST general Manager for providing a 32 seater bus and fulfilling the much needed service to the people.

Rev. Abemo Jungio, pastor of Wokha Town Baptist Church, offered the dedicatory prayer for the new bus.
