DIMAPUR —The Nagaland State Rural Livelihoods Mission (NSRLM) has achieved a major milestone in enabling self help groups (SHG) to apply for loan at their doorstep through online application popularly known as ‘Jan Samarth App.’

In this regard, an online loan application training for the area coordinators (AC-FI) and district coordinators (DCFI) from BMMU and DMMU of 74 blocks was conducted from June 10 to the 12th in Kohima. During the training, 21 SHG loan applications amounting to INR 73.5 lakhs were processed through Jan Samarth App, stated an update from NSRLM.

Speaking at in the inaugural programme, the state programme manager of financial inclusion (SPM-FI), Rajuselie Lhousa, informed that the field staff, who are facilitators in providing all needs of the SHG, should reorient themselves to provide services as per the emerging needs of the community. He stressed that loan application from the villages is of great necessity in Nagaland since the villages are un-banked and uncovered.

He pointed out that the rural population not only spend huge amount to reach the bank branches but works do not get done/completed in a single day, reportedly due to limited man-power in branch and concentration of bank staff in their usual businesses etc.

The SPM-FI stated that the field staff would provide the same training to SHG in the villages soon to enable them to apply for loan from their village itself.

The resource person of the online loan application training was Tokivi Shohe, programme manager of digital finance (PM-DF), state mission management unit.
