DIMAPUR — Nagaland State Legal Services Authority (NSLSA) has decided to conduct the quarterly National Lok Adalat on March 9, May 11, September 14 and December 14 during 2024.
The decision to conduct the National Lok Adalat was made as per the directive of the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) as per provisions of the Legal Services Authorities Act, 1987, read with National Legal Services Authority (Lok Adalats) Regulations, 2009, informed Victo Sema, NSLSA member secretary.
The National Lok Adalat would be conducted by all District Legal Services Authorities (DLSA) and High Court Legal Services Committee (HCLSC) under the State Legal Services Authority in the courts and tribunals.
It informed that cases would be referred as per the provisions mentioned above and necessary directions would be issued to all concerned to conduct pre-Lok Adalat or pre-conciliation sittings before the scheduled date of National Lok Adalat in order to provide opportunities for negotiations to the parties to arrive at a compromise or settlement.
It stated that all type of civil and compoundable criminal cases as may be permissible under the Act/ Regulations may be taken up for settlement in the National Lok Adalat. It added that SLSA would make all endeavours to promote registration of pre-litigation cases and services of notices through digital platforms/ online mode to ease pressure on conventional system.
