KOHIMA — In a riveting quarter-final showdown, Red Scars FC downed F4C Academy 2-0 on Monday evening to book their semi finals berth in the ongoing 23rd NSF Martyrs Memorial Trophy played at the IG Stadium in Kohima.

In a decisive encounter that saw the elimination of F4C Academy, Red Scars FC emerged triumphant with a 2-0 victory. The hero of the match, Yhunshalo Kemp (jersey number 9), etched his name by netting the first goal for Red Scars FC in the 80th minute. He further solidified his status with a clinical spot kick in the 90+3 minutes, securing the team’s place in the semi-finals.

The clash was not without its fair share of drama, as Letgousang Kipper (jersey number 17) from F4C Academy received a cautionary yellow card. Hekato (jersey number 3) and Vikethozo (jersey number 4) of Red Scars FC also found themselves in the referee’s book with yellow cards for unsportsmanlike conduct.

Yhunshalo Kemp’s stellar performance earned him the ‘Man of the Match’ title, presented by Medo Yhokha, former student leader and former legislator, the match patron.

With the exit of F4C Academy and also the departure of Asüfü Football Academy on October 7, both teams hailing from neighboring Manipur state, the coveted trophy is now up for grabs to local clubs.

Looking ahead, Red Scars FC will now set their sights on a head-to-head clash with United FC Piphema in the second semi-finals on October 12.

The semi-final match slated on October 11 will see a riveting clash between two formidable contenders, New Market FC and Liangmei FC.
