KOHIMA — Liangmai FC and Asüfü FA on Saturday advanced into the quarter finals of the ongoing 23rd NSF Martyrs Memorial Trophy played at IG Stadium, Kohima.

In the first match of the day, Liangmai FC outplayed Teima Khe Kidima with an impressive 7-2 scoreline.

Liangmai FC’s Kawitibo(17) opened the account for his team in the second minute, and went on to score a sensational hat-trick with goals in the 8th  and 11th minutes.

Further goal contributions from Ningtingbo(11) in the 30th  minute and Kenumdi in the 70th and 72nd  minutes solidified Liangmai FC’s victory.

Teima Khe Kidima managed to find the back of the net, courtesy of Nosal Pucho (7) in the 36th minute and Tepevil Thokhwe  in the 41st minute.

An unfortunate own goal by Sweyiesal (14) added to Teima Khe Kidima’s woes in the 47th minute.

The man of the match awarded to Kawitibo (17) of Liangmai FC, which was presented by P George Vizo, convenor, technical committee, NSF Martyr’s Memorial Trophy.

With this win, Liangmai FC will now face End of an Era in the quarter finals.

The second match of the day witnessed an intense battle with Asüfü Football Academy prevailing over Medziphema Royal FC by a narrow margin of 3-2.

Kikruzelie Kuotsu (9) and Mangal Gurung (13) put Medziphema Royal FC ahead with goals in the 21st and 23rd minutes, respectively.

However, Asüfü Football Academy showcased their resilience as Henjankhuo Haokip (5) struck a crucial goal in the 36th minute, followed by Lamgumlal Kipgen (14) in the 44th minute to level the score.

The match hung in the balance until the dying moments when Elozüo Kayina (9) of Asüfü Football Academy emerged as the hero, slotting home the decisive goal in the 81 st minute.

The man of the match was conferred to Elozüo Kayina, and the award was presented by Medovi Rhi, president of Naga Students Federation.
