DIMAPUR — The NSCN (K) faction led by Khango Konyak has asserted its commitment to start political talks with the government of India (GoI).

In a statement issued on Friday, the group maintained that it neither supports nor opposes the Framework Agreement and the Agreed Position. At the same time, it appealed to the Centre to ‘sincerely recognise’ that Naga political issue cannot be resolved without taking onboard all the stakeholders.

It further appealed to the government of Nagaland to play the role of facilitator to resolve the Naga political issue impartially once and for all.

“The NSCN largely emphasises on the very unfortunate situation faced by the Naga generation today. The Naga family is fragmented and disfigured with narrow tribalism and factionalism that cannot achieve our objective by hatred and deception.

“The NSCN appreciates the unwavering efforts of the churches, CSOs, pioneers and leaders of the Naga families for tirelessly standing for the advocacy of unity and oneness. The blood, sweat and tears of every Nagas to defend our political rights cannot be swayed away for the interest of certain group of community, the statement read.

The group reiterated its call for inclusion of Nagas onboard for a final solution that is acceptable “to every Naga society”.

“As a people’s government, the collective leaders and workers of the government comprehensively stand allegiance to socialist democratic ideologies as enshrined in the Yehzabo (constitution),” it added.

The group went on to state that it had entered into a ceasefire agreement as separate entity for the permanent resolution of the Naga political issue.

“Taking cognisance of the current political imbroglio between the GoI and Naga political groups, the NSCN appeals to all the stakeholders to be sincere and committed, not to succumb to  the same past mistake. The NSCN is fully prepared and committed to face any eventualities in the event of fallout in implementing permanent solution,” it stated.
