NPF forms local self government in Bhandari

WOKHA — For the first time since its inception in the year 2016, the newly elected representatives of Bhandari Town Council (BTC) in Wokha district took oath of affirmation on Saturday at the conference hall of the additional deputy commissioner’s (ADC) office in Bhandari.

The ADC of Wokha, Furhesie Nyuwi, administered the oath of affirmation in the presence of MLA Achumbemo Kikon and ADC and returning officer of Bhandari, Longdiba L Sangtam.

The oath of affirmation was administered to six NPF councilors and one each from BJP, JD  and Independent. 

After the oath taking ceremony, the ADC of Wokha, who is also the deputy commissioner in-charge of Wokha, presided over the election of the chairperson and deputy chairperson.

Khonthungia Odyuo and T Likao Odyuo, both from NPF party, were elected chairperson and deputy chairperson of BTC respectively.

Meanwhile, Achumbemo Kikon and Furhesie Nyuwi have congratulated the members and urged them to work for the progress and development of the town.
