Noklak NVG celebrates golden jubilee

DIMAPUR — Nagaland Village Guards (NVG) of Noklak village celebrated its golden jubilee on September 11 at Noklak Village Guard post.

Speaking at the occasion as special guest, MLA P Longon highlighted the history on the initiation of the Village Guards (VG) at Pangsha and the struggles and challenges it faced in the initial years, a DIPR report stated.

He mentioned that the VG record has been exemplary and urged them to continue the good work.

Longon also unveiled the jubilee monolith and launched the souvenir, which was dedicated by the literature and education secretary of Khiamniungan Baptist Churches Association.

SDO (Civil) Noklak, Vikhoto Richa stated that the VG, which has always been the backbone of the district administration, was formed under very different and challenging circumstances. He acknowledged the service of the VG personnel towards the nation and exhorted them to remain loyal.

Commandant, NVG, Tuensang, Mongoyanchu highlighted the importance of training the VG on various new criminal laws at village level for the convenience of the VG.  

Assistant commandant NVG Noklak, Nokchem L said that the VG personnel not only fulfil the call of duty but also responds to calls for assistance during natural disasters. He urged them to be vigilant and re-dedicate their service to the public and government.

Head GBs of Noklak and Kusong villages and convenor of jubilee planning committee also encouraged the VG personnel to continue their good work.

The welcome speech was delivered by Hav. Maj. L Bumeng, post commander Noklak VG and vote of thanks by S Panpan, chairman of Noklak Village Council.

A special prayer for the VG was conducted at Baptist Church Thang during the evening service.

Presentations were also given to the pioneers and the present serving VG personnel. The Jubilee witnessed a harmonious presentation of a Christian hymn ‘Rock of Ages’ by the Frontier Pipe Band, Nagaland Village Guard, Noklak.
