No transfer of doctor without replacement, says Ao Senden
DIMAPUR — The Ao Senden submitted a representation to the Principal Director of the Department of Health and Family Welfare, expressing strong opposition to the recent transfer orders of three doctors from Imkongliba Memorial District Hospital (IMDH) in Mokokchung.
The representation dated July 22, submitted through the Chief Medical Officer of Mokokchung, highlighted the crucial role IMDH plays in serving not just people of Mokokchung district, but also neighbouring districts.
The organisation pointed out that the hospital was already facing a shortage of doctors and that the transfer of the three doctors, without replacements would severely impact healthcare services in the region.
Asserting that the transfer, which was notified on July 17, 2024, would be detrimental to the health and well-being of the people in Mokokchung and surrounding areas, the Ao Senden said they would not allow the doctors to leave their posts until replacements were appointed.
It further urged the principal director to treat the matter with urgency, withhold the transfer orders, and ensure replacements are posted before any further action is taken.
