No compromise on quality road works under PMGSY – Minister Kaito
DIMAPUR — Minister for PWD (RB), G Kaito Aye convened a review meeting for the PMGSY works at the Capital Convention Centre, Kohima, on September 25.
In his address, the minister said that henceforth, there would not be any ‘compromise’ on the standard and quality of road works under PMGSY and the time schedule, an update stated.
Kaito lamented that the performance of the state as far as the PMGSY scheme is concerned is “not acceptable.”
Stating that new technology is adopted to bring about a change, he also insisted that the contractors should deliver good roads to the public.
He even maintained that the contractors should surrender their works if they are not confident in executing works within the guidelines of PMGSY. PMGSY being a flagship programme of the nation should not and cannot be diluted in any manner, he added.
The minister further mentioned that the PMGSY setup will be restructured with well trained professional and dedicated team of engineers who will exclusively look after PMGSY works.

A brief introduction of the PMGSY scheme, provision in the SBDs and Ministry’s advisories was delivered by the chief engineer PWD (RB) and empowered officer (NGRRDA). This was followed by detailed review of all projects – contractor wise.
The outcome of the meeting was the assurance given by all the contractors to complete the works within the stipulated time without compromising with the quality.
Earlier, chairing the proceedings, Joint Secretary of Works and Housing department welcomed all the contractors associated with the ongoing works.
Delivering the vote of thanks, the addl. chief engineer PWD (RB) and state quality coordinator, complemented the minister for taking the department in the right direction from day one of taking office and imparting a new vibe and impetus to the officers.
