NNC (PB), GPRN/NSCN (Mhathung, Kitovi) celebrate Naga I-Day

DIMAPUR — The Naga National Council (NNC) Parent Body (PB) celebrated Naga Independence Day along with kilonsers, tatars, and army personnel with thanksgiving and prayer in Dimapur.

Speaking on the occasion, the general secretary, Francis Kikon, urged everyone to thank God for His guidance in leading them in the struggle for the Naga cause, according to an update.

He emphasised that during this period of trial and struggle, everyone should seek the love and support of the people, which is essential for success in their struggle.

Noting that many organisations have emerged, but their call remains the same, he said that it is important that a peaceful atmosphere and cooperation coexist.

He stated that national workers have at times overstepped, which has gone against the interests of the people. Such actions should not be repeated and should not set a bad precedent.

Expressing deep anguish over the rate of unemployment and lack of opportunities, he called upon the state government and the elites of society to work together for the benefit of the Nagas.

GPRN/NSCN (Mhathung, Kitovi): The GPRN/NSCN (Mhathung, Kitovi) celebrated the 78th Naga Independence Day on August 14 at 5th Mile, Chümoukedima, with around 600 attendees, including officials, various civil societies, and well-wishers.

According to a press release, the programme started with an invocation prayer by Hokiye L Awomi, MRA Kilonser. The flag hoisting was conducted by Jungshiwati, Deputy Ato Kilonser, followed by a welcome address from Hukavi Yepthomi, Kilo Kilonser.

The Independence Day speech was delivered by Jungshiwati, who provided a brief history of the pioneers, highlighted the importance of their sacrifices, and discussed the current situation of the Naga generation.

N Kitovi Zhimomi, Ato Kilonser, highlighted the current political situation in Nagaland and stressed the importance of the plebiscite held on May 16, 1951. He concluded by urging the current Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, to be a man of his word and to soon call upon all negotiating parties for the final inking.
