DIMAPUR — The Deputy Commissioner of Niuland has written to the National Highways Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL) urging them to prioritise the cleaning, beautification, and maintenance of the four-lane stretch falling under the district’s jurisdiction.

The letter, addressed to the general manager of NHIDCL’s Project Management Unit (PMU) in Dimapur, highlighted the importance of the road, which connects Khatkhati CRPF group centre charali (Dimapur bypass 4-lane highway) to Patkai Bridge in Chümoukedima.

The DC noted that the road has seen increased traffic since October 1, following the repair and renovation of the Road Over Bridge (ROB) near Hotel Tragopan on NH-29 in Dimapur. Also, with the festive season and the Hornbill Festival approaching in December, the DC emphasised the urgent need for action to ensure a safe and pleasant experience for commuters and tourists.

“Therefore, kindly ensure that the dense vegetation on the shoulders of the highway and dividers are uprooted to avoid any distraction in the driving visibility, the road signages should be clearly visible to the commuters, road and divider markings are re-painted, road side plants are nurtured well, pot holes are repaired, etc.,” the DC stated.

Further assuring the NHIDCL of full cooperation and assistance in addressing any law and order concerns that may arise during the work, the DC requested the agency to commence the work at the earliest on a priority.
