DIMAPUR — The National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT), Kohima, kicked off its two-day Mega Job Fair 2024 across its centres in Nagaland including Kohima, Dimapur and Chuchuyimlang, on Thursday.

According to a DIPR report, the large-scale event aims to bridge the gap between job seekers and employers, drawing significant participation from various industries and aspiring young professionals seeking employment opportunities.

Director of NIELIT Kohima, L Lanuwabang, in his keynote address at the inaugural programme of the job fair, emphasised the importance of reskilling and upskilling in an evolving job market, particularly as automation and artificial intelligence (AI) continue to reshape industries.

He urged job seekers and aspiring young professionals to stay agile and future-ready, stressing the need to adapt to new fields of work. Lanuwabang also highlighted the necessity of IT and technology skills in every business and industry.

Reflecting on the traditional preference for government jobs in Nagaland, the director encouraged participants to broaden their horizons and consider private-sector opportunities with equal fervour.

“The experience and exposure you gain from these roles will help shape your career and enhance your competitiveness in the long run,” he said, while thanking the employers for their participation and encouraging candidates to seize opportunities, even if they may initially feel outside their comfort zones.

Earlier, Morimenba Amer, Joint Director of NIELIT Kohima, delivered the welcome address, followed by an invocation by Moakumla.

The job fair saw the active involvement of 15 prominent employers from sectors such as digital marketing, software development, automobiles, logistics, construction, food processing, printing, and telecommunications.

With over 1,500 job vacancies, opportunities ranged from local positions in Nagaland to roles in Tier 1 cities across India and even overseas placements, particularly in Europe.

The highest salary package offered was an impressive INR 33.56 lakh per annum (LPA).

“The NIELIT Mega Job Fair 2024 highlighted NIELIT Kohima’s commitment to creating a robust platform for both employers and job seekers, contributing to the economic growth and development of the region. The event has attracted a significant number of young, educated professionals eager to explore various career paths,” the report stated.
